Mission Statement

Empowering Hope, One Bag at a Time.

At Hope Bag Of Michigan, our mission is to provide dignity, comfort, and hope to individuals experiencing homelessness in Michigan who deserve to be seen, heard, and valued, regardless of their circumstances.

We dedicate ourselves to crafting and distributing Hope Bags, brimming with essential items and personal care products, to those in need. Our goal is not only to meet the immediate needs of the homeless but also to inspire a sense of hope, renewal, and possibility.

Hope Bags of Michigan is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity organization that strives to improve the lives of homeless Michigan residents.

We manufacture and distribute Hope Bags in Michigan and other basic necessities.

At Hope Bags of Michigan, we are committed to making a difference in our community.

Hope Bags of Michigan: Individuals Served Counter

In a four-day period from September 12 to 16, Hope Bags of Michigan assisted 518 individuals in need. The total number of people helped for the month now stands at 782. Still looking for that first corporate donation. Searching for some help from big business within my community and statewide to take the charity to the next level.

For The Month of October

October 1, 2025

Hope Bags of Michigan is organizing a fundraiser in the near future and is seeking donations of gift cards and prizes from local and statewide businesses in Michigan. The event will take place in southeast Michigan. Currently, we have about 15 gift cards and prizes. We need support to ensure this fundraiser is a huge success and to assist those in need across Michigan.

September 24, 2025

Today, Hope Bags of Michigan donations will help 127 people in need. We donated 127 sandwiches, about 200 pairs of socks, and miscellaneous items. We donated these items to the Motor City Mitten Mission in St. Clair Shores.

The Motor City Mitten Mission is a Michigan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need. By educating, partnering, and collaborating with other organizations, schools, churches, clubs, and businesses, they are able to assist the homeless, the sick, and those striving for a better way of life.

The number of individuals served in September has now reached 1,343.

Hope Bags of Michigan made a donation to the Holland Rescue Mission today in Holland, Michigan, following our previous donation in Grand Rapids yesterday. Over the past two days, we have distributed 200 bags of chips, drinks, and 175 sandwiches.

Hope Bags of Michigan is looking to resume the production of Hope/Care Bags in the near future. We are in need of funding and are seeking support from businesses in our local area or across the state. since we donate statewide.

If you have been following me from the beginning, I do not receive any compensation for duties performed. I am on SSDI and have three neurological disorders. I just want to help people in need and provide them with the support they require. This includes homeless people living on the streets, in the woods, and in the shelters.

Hope bags of Michigan donated 100 sandwiches and bags of chips to the Blue water rescue mission in Port Huron

September 12, 2025

Today, Hope Bags of Michigan set a new record by helping 222 people in need. We donated sandwiches and chips at the Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries lot located at 448 N Burdick St. I stayed up until 3:30 AM to prepare this donation for today.

Due to a lack of donations, we have not made any of our Hope Bags in the last month. This is what we specialize in. I was even working on a diabetic version. In just over a month, we assisted over 1,200 people in need but have only received $150 in donations and a few items from our Amazon wish list.

Currently, my Grand Rapids Distribution project has been canceled after months of planning. I had intended to distribute our Hope Bags and sandwiches.

I have a few supplies left for sandwiches and will continue to make them.

Over the past two years, I have invested a significant amount of time and effort into Hope Bags of Michigan, often using my own money. I even took out two loans to keep this charity running. I can't continue this way anymore. I had a good thing going.

Thank you to Merret Dental of St. Clair Shores for generously donating 240 tubes of toothpaste.

September 9 & 10, 2025

In a two-day period, Hope Bags of Michigan assisted 165 people in need in Mt. Clemens, Roseville, Detroit, and Battle Creek.

August 28, 2025 Lansing, Michigan

Today, Hope Bags of Michigan provided assistance to 130 homeless and low-income individuals in Lansing. We distributed sandwiches, chips, cookies, drinks, socks, deodorant, and Slim Jims at the homeless camp located near Dietrich Park along the Grand River, as well as at Holy Cross Services' new Hope Community Center.

At Holy Cross, we were able to assist approximately 100 people in just 20 minutes. Tomorrow, we will be in Flint, Michigan.

Today Hope Bag of Michigan assisted 175 individuals in need at My Brother's Keeper of Genesee, located at 101 N Grand Traverse St.

We donated 175 sandwiches. 188 packs of cookies and nuts, 200 bags of chips, and about 175 drinks.

Hope Bags of Michigan is looking for donations of Sam's Club and Walmart gift cards. We will use gift cards to purchase supplies for Hope Bags, and lunch meat for sandwiches. You can buy gift cards online or in the store or send them to the address below.

On Friday, Hopes of Michigan will distribute 100 sandwiches, fruit, and Better Made potato chips to the YWCA Interim House at 8200 Marygrove in Detroit.

The YWCA Interim House Metro Detroit is a service dedicated to helping individuals experiencing domestic violence.

A heartfelt thank you to two anonymous individuals who generously donated $160 in total to Hope Bags of Michigan today.

We will use this donation to prepare our homemade sandwiches. Our lunchmeat is sourced from Gordon's Food Services, and we slice it ourselves using our meat slicer. We choose high-quality cheeses from Sam's Club and avoid American cheese because it's processed.

Today, I will begin preparing our next batch of at least 100 sandwiches, which we will donate to a shelter of our choice. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Today, Hope Bags of Michigan donated 170 hot dogs, packs of cookies, chips, soda, and water to the harbor at 929 Pine St. in Port Huron.

Harbor House, a 24-hour emergency youth shelter serving ages 9 to 17, will use this donation for their 5K run on Friday, which will generate donations for their mission. The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Pine Grove Park, located near the Huron Lightship Museum on Michigan St.

Hope Bags of Michigan donated 50 sandwiches and 60 pairs of brand-new socks to St. Johns Congregation Church, located at 14320 Kercheval in Detroit, Michigan. The church provides shelter for about 50 homeless individuals.

One of the coordinators, Lee, expressed immense happiness about the donated socks, and the homeless residents enjoyed my homemade sandwiches. I made ham and cheese sandwiches, as well as hard salami with cheese and sliced deli pepperoni.

In the last two days I have made 135 sandwiches; after giving out 50 yesterday, I have 85 sandwiches on hand.

What Is A Hope Bag?

A hope bag is a one-gallon zip-lock bag filled with essentials to provide comfort to people in need. Our Hope bags contain things like first aid supplies, gloves, hand warmers, hats, socks, underwear, feminine hygiene products, combs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, nail clippers,deodorant, razors, rain ponchos, snacks, and beverages.

Items in a Hope Bag, or items we distribute, may vary.

Hope Bags of Michigan also can buy in bulk directly from the manufacturer. Most charities purchase supplies from Walmart, Amazon, and Bulk Warehouse. We strive to maximize the impact of every dollar spent without affecting the quality of our Hope Bag.
